The Reflections@Bukit Chandu is located near Pasir Panjang while Old Fort Factory is located in Upper Bukit Timah and they are important in history because at Bukit Chandu,Singapore's fiercest battle was fought by the Malay Regiment against the Japanese while at Old Fort Factory,General Percival surrendered to Japanese General Yamashita Tomosuki unconditionally during World War II.Featured at Bukit Chandu was Lieutenant Adnan,who had refused to fight even though there was no bullets left to shoot at the enemy,he used the bayonet to kill some more,however,he was captured and tortured before dying.He was only 27 years old at the time he was executed.However,even though it was his end,he did not allow the Malay Regiment or himself be humiliated by the Japanese.He wore the Malay Regiment's uniform to his end along with his other comrades who had not surrendered yet,not giving the Japanese a single chance to humiliate them.The hero at Old Fort Factory was probably General Yamashita,for his victory against Singapore,for winning Singapore over in less than 3 months and for only using 30 000 troops to defeat Singapore,which then had about 100,000 troops to defend it.General Yamashita did not sacrifice anything but however,Lieutenant Adnan sacrificed his life and his platoon for the cause of defending Singapore against the Japanese during World War Two.
